Tour Update

For those of you who still aren't watching The Tour, but should be, here is a little update.  Lance is still in yellow although the standings have changed dramatically over the past week or so.  The overall standings have Lance just 38 seconds over a surprising performance by Mickael Rasmussen.  However Lances biggest challengers are all more than 2 Minutes away from him and probably his biggest rival this year Alexandre Vinokourov is more than 4 and a half Minutes behind.  Although don't discount Vinokourov, he had a bad day in the mountains but came back then next day and just wiped out all the competition.  The race is still really exciting and is barely half over.
The mountains have just begun and there is a lot of racing left to go.  Many of the racers have been dropped from the race entirely and much of the main group is struggling to keep up with the pace on the mountains.  There is still many opportunities for Lance to open the time gap, but there is still a lot of opportunities for his competition as well, let's hope he hasn't underestimated them this year.  There is still another Time Trial coming up and Lance is sure to have a good performance on that day.
Tune in and check out the Tour.  Make sure to post your comments and/or projections of the Tour outcome.
I even have Brooke interested in the Tour now, and she doesn't like to watch sports much.  That is a testament of how fun this sport is to watch.

I hoping Lance can pull it off. He's been racing phenomenally. I'm a little worried though. The remaining members of Lance's team are sporadic in being able to keep up the pace, and have at times left Lance all alone. T-Mobile's team are all mountain animals. I think Armstrongs inner drive can compensate for his occasional lack of a supporting cast.

I agree, Lance is doing good but I am also quite dissapointed in his team lately, however Lance is so strong he has been able to just do what he needs by himself. I have to say that seeing Hincapie win yesterday was a big boost for the team. With most of the mountains behind now, it's the big Time Trial that will make all the difference for the podium in Paris.
