Robbie's Eggs

Look what spring has brought for us. Unfortunately we may have to adopt these eggs because we haven't seen the momma bird since the snow storm. Brooke has named the momma bird "Robbie" because it's a Robin.

The momma bird should be sitting on the nest almost all of the time. If she's not back by now (May 20th), call the Ogden Nature Center for some advice. In case your wondering, baby birds eat extremely soggy cat food. Use a hemostat to feed it to them. Hope the babies survive though.

Robbie still isn't back. Mom thinks she must've been eaten by a cat. Ty's been telling me all along that she must just be out getting worms. I think he was trying to protect me. Mom told the truth though. Anyway, I don't think the eggs are going to hatch now. I'm keeping an eye on them though, so if they do, I'll feed them the cat food. Thanks for the advice.

Unfortunately, since the robin is not back, the eggs are not going to hatch. They needed to be kept really warm by their mother and turned frequently in order to develop. However, you could probably take the nest and eggs down now, and keep it in a box. It might be fun to show little Haylee when she's older. Sorry to hear about your robin.
